چکیده
Abstract Developing strategies to effectively discriminate between different quantum states is a fundamental issue in information and communication. The actual realization of generally optimal protocols this task often limited by the need supplemental resources very complex receivers. We have experimentally implemented two discrimination schemes minimum-error scenario based on receiver featured network structure dynamical processing information. first protocol our experiment, directly inspired recent theoretical proposal, achieves binary discrimination, while second one provides novel approach multi-state relying features network-like receiver. This strategy exploits arrival time degree freedom as an encoding variable, achieving results, without for systems or devices. Our results further reveal potential approaches state tasks, providing possible starting point efficient alternatives current experimental strategies.

Experimental implementation of a quantum optical state comparison amplifier.
We present an experimental demonstration of a practical nondeterministic quantum optical amplification scheme that employs two mature technologies, state comparison and photon subtraction, to achieve amplification of known sets of coherent states with high fidelity. The amplifier uses coherent states as a resource rather than single photons, which allows for a relatively simple light source, su...
متن کاملQuantum cryptography for multi - user passive optical networks
Quantum cryptography has been shown to be an effective technique for the secure distribution of cryptographic keys on point-to-point communication links. Here, we describe adaptations of the existing quantum cryptography protocols and equipment configurations that allow secure key distribution to be performed on a variety of multiuser passive optical network (PON) architectures. These adaptatio...
متن کاملRetrodictive quantum optical state engineering
Although it has been known for some time that quantum mechanics can be formulated in a way that treats prediction and retrodiction on an equal footing, most attention in engineering quantum states has been devoted to predictive states, that is, states associated with a preparation event. Retrodictive states, which are associated with a measurement event and propagate backwards in time, are also...
متن کاملEfficient optical quantum state engineering.
We discuss a novel method of efficiently producing multiphoton states using repeated spontaneous parametric down-conversion. Specifically, by attempting down-conversion several times, we can pseudodeterministically add photons to a mode, producing various several-photon states, e.g., Fock states and N00N states (number-path entangled states of the form |N(A), 0(B)>+|0(A), N(B)>). This scheme is...
متن کاملContinuous-variable optical quantum state tomography
This review covers latest developments in continuous-variable quantum-state tomography of optical fields and photons, placing a special accent on its practical aspects and applications in quantum information technology. Optical homodyne tomography is reviewed as a method of reconstructing the state of light in a given optical mode. A range of relevant practical topics are discussed, such as sta...
